The most important things in brief

CSI Basel brings excitement to showjumping

Der CSI Basel sporting programme has been designed to highlight the drama of unfolding events, with emphasis on suspense and variety:

Thursday 10th. Januar 2013
The fourth CSI Basel begins at 9:00 with two amateur competitions over 120 and 130cm jumps.  The professionals will face each other in the first open events at 13:30. At 16:15 the Thermoplan AG trophy will be contested, an event over 145cm obstacles. This is followed at 19:15 by the grand event of the day: the Basel City Championships, with prize money of  80,000 CHF. In this demanding event riders are competing not only for the financial rewards, but also the coveted "Basel Golden Drum" trophy.

Friday 11th. Januar 2013
The second day of the tournament begins with two further amateur competions starting at 9:00.  At 13:30 the professionals will enter the arena to compete for the Garage Nepple trophy.  This is followed at 16:15 by the no less exciting Emil Frey AG progressive points event, including two jokers. As a crowning finale riders will compete for the LGT trophy, which will be held as a jump-off.

Saturday 12th. Januar 2013
Once again the amateurs will demonstrate the abilities of their horses, starting at 8:15 and 11:00. At 14:30 the Helvetia team event will be held, in which two amateurs who have previously qualified will team up with two professionals. The programme continues in a lively manner at 16:15 with the Grand Basel Showjumping event, held under the patronage of Solbau GmbH. The Swiss Horse of the Year will be honoured at 19:00, followed at 19:15 by the Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois trophy - a jump-off event with prize money of 50,000 CHF.

Sunday 13th. January 2013
At 10:00 the professional riders will compete for the Canton Basel-Landschaft trophy. At  14:00 a lot is at stake: an event with a jump height of 160cm and a field of 45 riders, of which 15 will qualify for the final. The competion in question is no less than the Grand Prize of H. Moser & Cie, with prize money of 450,000 CHF - the largest sum in the world awarded at an indoor event. In the case of a tie, the winner will be decided in a jump-off.
